National Arts Service

The relationship between the public and the art institutions they fund is broken. To try and heal it, and explore new ways of working, Jack Dean offered his services as Artist in Residence for his local area, for whatever they need, whenever they need it. Sending out a letter in April to more than 3000 local residents that unashamedly channels the 1948 NHS letter, as well as holding regular “surgeries” on Zoom, he spent the next six months creating content to meet whatever requirements come up, all of it free at the point of use.
