Job Opportunity: Researcher
We are looking for someone to support research and fact-checking on a new historical podcast called Fogland Lighthouse by Jack Dean & Company.
About Fogland Lighthouse
Fogland Lighthouse is a new non-fiction podcast that shines a light on the obscure, overlooked and downright weird stories from British History, with words and music by award-winning writer and composer Jack Dean. Sometimes funny, sometimes tragic, often a bit of both.
About The Company
Jack Dean & Company is a non-profit organisation set up to help tell stories of how things could be. We collaborate with inspiring and exceptional artists to create new work across many artforms. Founded by Jack Dean in 2020, we are committed to offering people across the UK the chance to dream of a different world, whatever the current one may hold.
About the Role
We’re looking for someone to support the research of the final five episodes of a ten-episode season. This will involve trawling through source material and historical writings on a given subject, and condensing them into a simple, easy-to-read research document full of key events and interesting facts that can be referred to during the writing process. It might be well-suited to a postgraduate student already working in a related subject.
Person Specification
Essential
– Experience of conducting in-depth research for creative projects.
– Ability to quickly digest and effectively condense and communicate historical research.
– A calm, empathetic and enthusiastic approach to working with others.
– Good availability in January & February 2022.
Desirable
– Ability to access JSTOR and/or equivalent academic journals.
– Ability to commute to Exeter for meetings.
Fee
£907.50, based on 7.5 days at £121 per day, plus a £100 research materials budget.
Timeline
The production period will run from the 3rd of January to the 11th of February 2022. We can be moderately flexible on how days are distributed over this period.
